11. Project Hail Mary

Will be released: March 9, 2021

  •  If you liked the film "The Martian" with Matt Damon in the title role, then you should know that Andy Weir's book of the same name should be thanked for the appearance of this movie.

  •  In a new book called Project Hail Mary, another lone astronaut will have to use science to survive, except that not only is the fate of one person at stake, but the salvation of an entire planet. This is serious science fiction about solar microbes, amnesia, and first contact with aliens.

  •  The film rights to the book have already been bought out, the MGM film company will be involved in the project, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) will be put in the director's chair, and Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049) will be given the main role.

  •  This collection of 8 stories was originally published in July, however the hardcover book will be released in 2021.

  •  First Person Singular is narrated in the first person, and is devoted to a variety of topics – from nostalgic memories of youth, meditations on music, love of baseball, to characteristic fairy-tale episodes by a Japanese author that all together defy the boundaries of reality and illusion. But the main question that the book poses is memoirs or fiction? You decide.

  •  Nguyen's first novel, The Sympathizer, became a bestseller and won a Pulitzer Prize. And "The Committed" will be its continuation, with more meaningful conversations, humor and existential despair.

  •  In The Sympathizer, an unnamed undercover agent told (to Hollywood filmmakers) his stories of working on two fronts, North and South Vietnam, and gradually becoming more confused about his own beliefs. In the new book, the narrator will be transported to 1981, in Paris, his father's homeland, where he and his best friend Bon will go into the criminal underground network of the city.

  •  In the new novel, Nguyen will reveal to readers in an accessible and interesting way the difficult issues that dominated the 20th century and are relevant for the 21st: race, immigration, identity, irreconcilable worldviews, as well as addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder, which underlie the great " isms” (communist, capitalist and catholic).

1. The Nature of Middle-Earth

Author: J. R. Tolkien

  •  One of the most anticipated books is written by the late J. R. Tolkien, and is dedicated to the structure of Middle-earth. Through it, readers will learn more about elven immortality and the nature of the Valar, whether elves, hobbits and dwarf women can grow beards, about the lands and beasts of Númenor, and about many other things about Middle-earth.

  •  The book is based on old, unpublished drafts by the famous writer, which were given to editor Carl Hostetter by Tolkien's son, Christopher.

  •  “To him (Tolkien) Middle-earth was part of a whole world to be explored, and the entries in The Nature of Middle-earth reveal the journeys he took to better understand his unique creation,” said Chris Smith, Associate Director of Publishing for HarperCollins magazine.
