The coin is dedicated to Ole Bornemann Bull (February 5, 1810 - August 17, 1880), a Norwegian violinist and composer who created more than 70 works, a supporter of state independence from Sweden and cultural independence from Denmark. In 1850 he stood at the origins of the Norwegian Theater in Bergen. In 1853, Ole Bull created the Oleana commune in the United States, now in its place is the Pennsylvania State Park. September 2, 2011 marks the 200th anniversary of the decree of King Frederick VI to establish a university in Norway. This decision was preceded by a century and a half of the struggle of the Norwegians for their own university - but in 1661, in the 1760s and 1770s in 1793-95, their demands were rejected. When King Frederick VI gave his consent in September 1811, the exact location of the university had not yet been determined. In the spring of 1812 this place became the year of Christiania (now - Oslo).
