The Argentine peso is the currency of Argentina. Consists of 100 centavos. Argentina's modern currency was introduced after the abolition of the Austral in 1992. In circulation there are banknotes of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 Argentine pesos. In mid-2016, it is planned to introduce 200 and 500 peso banknotes for issue, which will open a new series of banknotes dedicated to the flora and fauna of the country. In 2017, new banknotes in denominations of 20, 50, 100 and 1000 pesos are planned for issue.
