The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu has launched a new series of polymer banknotes to mark the 30th anniversary of independence. On July 28, 2010, the first banknote with a denomination of 10 vatu was issued.

In the center of the coat of arms is a Melanesian warrior with a spear in his hands, who stands in front of a volcano. At the bottom of the coat of arms is the country's national motto: "Long God yumi stanap" ("We stand behind God").
