Five banks have the right to issue Northern Ireland pounds: Ulster Bank, Bank of Ireland, First Trust Bank, North Bank and Bank of Denmark (since May 11, 2012, the Bank of Denmark fully accepts all rights to banknotes previously issued by the North Bank - the design of the banknotes has been preserved, but the logo of the North the bank is replaced with the logo of the bank of Denmark). The Bank of England pound is legal tender along with the Northern Ireland pound. The ratio of the Bank of England pound to the Northern Ireland pound is 1: 1. The pound of Northern Ireland outside Northern Ireland is not accepted for payment anywhere else, it is exchanged by banks at face value.
