Banknotes of ICELAND - a catalog of coins of different countries: modern coins and banknotes of all countries of the world, samples, gold and silver coins, photos and description.
The Icelandic krone is the currency of Iceland. Introduced in 1885. In September 2002, a law was adopted to abolish the division of the kroon into changeable units from October 1, 2003. Currently, there is no official currency in Iceland. In March 2009, the report of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Ossur Skarfedinsson, indicated three possibilities: to keep the kroon, to introduce the euro without joining the EU, and to introduce the euro by joining the EU. The report recommended a third option. Iceland has started EU accession negotiations.
