BOLIVIA banknotes - a catalog of coins of different countries: modern coins and banknotes of all countries of the world, samples, gold and silver coins, photos and description.
Boliviano is the currency of Bolivia. The currency got its name in honor of Simon Bolivar. After a period of hyperinflation, the boliviano peso was replaced in 1987 by a new boliviano at the rate of one million old pesos to one new boliviano. 1 new boliviano was equal to one US dollar. In 1987, Boliviano peso banknotes were replaced by boliviano banknotes. The following banknotes were printed: 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 boliviano. The 2 boliviano was replaced by a coin in 1991, and a similar thing happened with the 5 boliviano in 2001, although the 5 boliviano is still in circulation.
