Rwandan franc or Rwandan franc (eng. Rwanda Franc, fr. Franc rwandais) - the national currency of Rwanda, equal to 100 centimes.
In 1916, after the transition of Rwanda from Germany to Belgium, instead of the rupee of German East Africa, the Belgian Congo franc was introduced, in 1960 it was replaced by the Rwandan and Burundi franc. In 1964, the latter, which was the common currency for Rwanda and Burundi, was replaced by the Rwandan franc.
In circulation there are Banknotes in denominations of 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 Rwandan francs. All banknotes issued prior to 2004 were canceled from January 1, 2010.
